Places to visit and what to do in Vietnam

foto Vietnam street

Cu chi tunnels (Ho Chi Minh)

This is great to understand the history of Vietnam and has some “fun” tunnels to climb in.

Ha long bay (Hanoi)

Probably the most amazing experience you may have in Vietnam. Discover a dream-like landscape of rocks among the sea. Embark in a two days trip with one night aboard a cruise ship where you can relax and enjoy a wonderful sunset and maybe a starry night if you’re lucky with weather. Usually those kind of trips include visits to some caves and the option to kayaking in the afternoon. Note: before reaching piers for boat departures be prepared for about 30/40 min of travel by private mini bus.

Sit by the roadside

Maybe not healthy for your lungs ’cause of vietnamese roads pollution, but sure very healthy if you have Vietnamese noodles or nem cuon (that is not exciting for locals but is an exciting food experience for a tourist)

Take a walking tour to see the rice fields of Sapa. Rent a motorbike and ride along the mountains. If you feel adventurous, from Sapa it is possible to cross the border over to China. It’s a great experience to notice the change in language from Vietnam to China and the stark difference in technology uptake.

Sea, beaches and fun in Vietnam

Nha Trang

Travel to this place by train from Ho Chi Minh or Hanoi and enjoy the beaches. It is also great to sit by the roadside and eat seafood. Make it unforgettable watching the sunrise or sunset by the beach.

Go to Danang (Đà Nẵng) if you like beach holidays to enjoy one of the most popular places.

Typical food to eat in Vietnam

Pho (noodles) Bún bò Huế (beef noodles) Bánh mì  (breakfast by the road side) Gỏi đu đủ (salad) Gỏi cuốn (Spring Rolls) Smoothies by the road side Ca Phe (Vietnamese coffee) Hot Vit Lon (Fetal Duck Eggs)
